Flavours of Derbyshire

Buckingham’s is committed to promoting the County of Derbyshire and its tourism. We endeavour to purchase locally produced food, drinks and supplies and utilise farmers markets and local growers whenever possible for use in our hotel and restaurant.

Over the last thirty years I have built up a unique relationship with our suppliers many having become good friends, supplying us with their finest products. Our motto at Buckingham’s is “buy the best and sell the best” where there will be no compromise on quality or flavour. This is where our unique relationship comes into its own. We can not produce the finest food with out their finest ingredients. Our no menu policy allows us to use the best of ingredients from Derbyshire on a daily basis

All food products for sale in our hotel and restaurant are made in our kitchen, from our fresh bake breads with our home made butter to our famous Chesterfield marmalade and pickles from our kitchen door shop

With our home made policy, three years ago my children decided for my birthday to rent an allotment for me. This is now producing wonderful
fruit and vegetables. This year we are putting in nine raised bed for rotational planting so vegetable are limited but hope to be in full production later this year

There flour is the best I won’t use any other flour I have perfected the best celiac bread with their gluten free flour. A great range of difference flours

Colombier Vins Fins, Swadlincote - Wine
They care as much about there wines as I do about my food need I say more. They are always finding new wines for me

John Hancock Butchers Castlegate Farm, Stoney Middleton - Meat
Breeds his own meat, Red Hereford beef, Texel lamb, Award winning black pudding and try Hancock’s sausages. I placed my first order in August 1975 I dread to think how many pounds of sausage I have order in the last thirty two years

Local smoker of foods Meats, Fresh Fish, Cheese, Great Deli and much more. A must if you are in Bolsover you will not be sorry. Just try before buy! Taste his smoked salmon you won’t go anywhere else.
